Choosing A Boat con't

Combined

Combined events are the ones featured in squirt competitions at rodeos, and at the international (World Championships) level. Boats that seem to be placing well under the current scoring system at these events are shorter designs with a balanced mix of both surf and cartwheel ability and mystery ability. If you’re looking to compete at this level, pick a boat that will rotate fast end-for-end and be able to take advantage of the high-scoring moves, as well as sink easily. Squirt boats which are too long to go from move to move quickly, or that do not mystery well, will typically not score high enough to place well. Think Asylum. Think Hellbender. Think Angst. These are the kind of boats that can perform all the necessary moves with ease, are short enough to trade ends quickly without grounding out in shallow spots, and will mystery reasonably well in various access modes (ie. seams, ledges, waves, holes).
